There are plenty of people in they city who live their life day by day with out taking into account the environment around them and how our impact effects the whole world. One of the biggest problems with this issue is that of ignorance. Many people are simply unaware of the things that go on in our country, our city, and sometimes even our own backyards. One of the biggest things our organizations promotes is that of education. Educating people on the various injustice that goes on a day to day basis and empowering the people so they know that they can do something about it!!

One of our greatest tools of education is a little something we call the “Toxic Tour”.

It’s basically a 2 hour walking tour of our neighborhood of Little Village. Groups get to walk around our “industrial” area where we inform people about the surrounding polluting facilities (some times located across the street from people’s residences) their history, and what kind of contaminates they throw into the atmosphere.

This has been a very useful tool in spreading the information to groups (such as schools, universities, religious, political, communities) and educating them on just what exactly is happening in our city and our environment. Almost all people who take the tour come back saying “that was a big eye-opener” and they all express the sentiment of how much they didn’t know was going on.

If you would like to take a toxic tour or would just like more information please feel free to call us at (773) 762-6991 and say “whats up with those toxic tours”

Here is a video that highlights our “toxic tours” which are led by young activists Armando Medina.
